BIOGRAPHY

Kathleen Conlon is a contemporary abstract acrylic painter based on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. Her work is defined by layered textures and expressive movements. Kathleen works intuitively, approaching each canvas without preplanning and allowing the painting to guide her through gesture, layering, and emotional response. This spontaneous, process-driven approach results in compositions that carry both atmospheric depth and dynamic energy.
Inspired by the ocean, coastal landscapes, and the natural rhythms of Cape Cod, Kathleen’s paintings reflect a balance of serenity and vitality. Through her use of texture, fluid mark-making, and subtle tonal shifts, she seeks to evoke the sensory experience of nature.
Since relocating to Cape Cod in 2025, Kathleen has exhibited in multiple juried and non-juried shows at the Falmouth Art Center and the Cotuit Center for the Arts. Her work continues to gain recognition among collectors and art community members, who appreciate nuanced, contemporary abstraction rooted in intuition and place.
Kathleen holds a Bachelor of Arts in Visual Arts and a Master’s degree in Education. With more than 20 years of teaching experience, she brings a deep understanding of creative development, discipline, and exploration to her studio practice. Her paintings aim to engage viewers emotionally, offering moments of reflection, calm, and visual discovery.
ARTIST STATEMENT

My abstract paintings emerge from an intuitive practice grounded in healing, joy, and resilience. Working with a palette of neutrals, blues, and whites, I build layer upon layer of texture and movement, allowing each piece to unfold naturally. I am guided not by a plan, but by emotion, curiosity, and the energy of the moment.
My studio practice has become an essential source of strength and renewal as I faced life’s challenges. Creating art brings me back to myself. It is where I feel most alive, most grounded, and most connected.
I love to explore with unconventional tools such as trowels from the hardware store, kitchen spatulas, and anything that invites unexpected marks and textures. These tools allow me to work freely, pushing paint in bold motions that reflect both the challenges I’ve overcome and the joy I choose every day.
Each painting carries that spirit—layered, textured, resilient, and full of quiet power.
